018: Celebrating the Life of Dr. Mark Laaser

In this special episode of Pure Gold, we honor the life of Dr. Mark Laaser, one of the early pioneers in the field of sexual addiction & recovery. Dr. Laaser passed away early on the morning of September 27, 2019 after a long battle with myeloma cancer. His life & legacy is nothing short of amazing and while I didn’t know him personally, I did have the chance to interview him for the podcast in 2014. I share my thoughts of Dr. Laaser as well as the interview I did with him regarding his book, “Taking Every Thought Captive”.

Mark — we will miss you, but we thank God for your life and for the thousands of lives your ministry touched on this earth. Friends, enjoy the podcast.

how-to-discipline-yourself-with-10-habits

Recovery from addiction is a battle fought on many fronts. There is not one key to freedom and healing, but a culmination of little & big decisions that a person must make to get healthy again. It’s developing a fierce tenacity and commitment to doing the right thing even if you slip up. But it’s also about putting the right practices in place to help you when you’re facing a battle. This week on the podcast, we talk about the discipline we must have in recovery & hear from a guest therapist about developing healthy disciplines to guide you along the way. Enjoy the podcast!

015: Dishonesty Will Destroy Your Marriage

My point of brokenness occurred when my wife (fiance at the time) took her engagement ring off and slid it across the table and said: “I won’t marry you”. It was as if the Lord was saying: “You’ve nearly destroyed your life, I won’t allow you to destroy my daughter’s life.” Dishonesty is a destroyer of marriage. The moment you stop being honest with your spouse is the moment you have given up on your marriage. This week, Frank shares from his own life what it took to come out of addiction and into freedom. Also, what is temptation really? Should we be worried or concerned when we’re tempted?

014: The Truth About Transparency

Workplace-Transparency

Transparency in recovery means you’re completely honest with your spouse, doesn’t it? What do you really share with them? How far do you go in explaining to them how you struggle? This week, Frank & Tracey both attempt to address these questions and more as they talk from their own personal experience of addiction & recovery journeys. Husbands AND wives: You don’t want to miss this episode.
